Unlike Bungoma, hotels with swimming pools in Kakamega are fewer and only afew are of great quality. Fortunately, this year has seen more hotels setup and with them two awesome pools to check out. Here’s our list of the best swimming pools at hotels in Kakamega you should try as we approach the festivities.
1. The Downtown Tavern Kakamega
Opened only last year, the Downtown Tavern boasts of the largest swimming pool in Kakamega county. Located at a secluded corner of the famous joint, the pool offers a perfect environment for parties such as birthdays, baby showers, graduation parties. Wedding receptions can as well be done here to great appeal.
For your leisurely swimming, charges are Ksh. 300 only for adults and Ksh. 200 for children. Accompanying snacks such as chips, soda and drinks are also affordable so that you can enjoy yourselves without breaking the bank. Literally!
2. Golf Hotel
Golf is arguably the earliest of the hotels with swimming pools in Kakamega. And thanks to great management and design, the swimming pool still lives up to its great name. On many occasions, the swimming pool has played host to many events such as Miss Tourism Kakamega County, Miss Kakamega County, Kids events to name a few.
Ontop of the above, the pool is the main one used by schools around Kakamega for swimming lessons. This can undoubtedly be attributed to the proximity to the CBD. For a great time, adults pay Ksh. 500 while kids are charged Ksh. 300.
3. Malava K Hotel
Malava K Hotel is located in Malava on Kakamega Webuye Road and offers you a chance to swim out of town. With a reasonably sized pool, the hotel charges Ksh. 250 and children Ksh. 200 for a swim. Affordable right?
While at the pool, you can also chill on their green lawns as you bask on the sun. A private bar is available for drinks to complement the snacks. All available within the hotel.

Have you heard of Pennjoki Resort? How about visiting? Then its pool is one you should try! Just a 5 minute drive from CBD on Kakamega Mumias Road lies this great place.
While the hotel has limited space, its pool is wide and guarantees privacy by the barriers erected around it. For a swim here, all you need is Ksh. 300 as an adult and only Ksh. 150 for kids. So now would you deny your child a chance to swim for Ksh. 150!? I bet not.
5. Westgate Hotel Mumias
Westgate takes the fifth on the hotels with swimming pools in Kakamega county. Located in Mumias area, the hotel has the only pool in the town and attracts lots of swimmers during weekends. Usually, school holidays and festivities mark the maximum capacities in terms of attendances.
However, alot needs to be done by the management to maintain the pool and improve it to competitive levels and for safety purposes.
6. Savona Isle Resort
Finally, Savona Isle Resort completes our listing this year. Found along the River Isiukhu in Kakamega, the hotel is uniquely serene and surrounded by natural sceneries like the Kakamega Forest.
Generally, the swimming pool here is very wide and great for a leisurely weekend. Nevertheless, we believe more can be done to improve it’s quality inorder to climb up the rankings come 2023.
