List of Elected MPs in Kakamega County 2022
Elected MPs in Kakamega County in 2022 mark the hallmark of representation of the county’s twelve subcounties. Together, they represent a hooping 2 million population spread from as far as Likuyani all the way to Butere.
At the county level, Dr. Boni Khalwale has been reelected to serve his second term after a 5 year break while Mama Elsie Muhanda starts her second uninterrupted term as the Women Representative.
Without much ado, let’s delve into the list.
1. Bishop Titus Khamala – Lurambi
Being one of the biggest constituencies in size and population, Lurambi Constituency gives its MP a second uninterrupted term. Bishop Khamala is well known for development of storey buildings in schools. When you take a stroll within Kakamega town and its environs, you’ll definitely meet ‘Built by CDF‘ highrise classrooms thanks to his patronage.
For perspective, Lurambi Constituency stretches as far as Makunga along Kakamega Mumias Road, to Bukura then back to Mukumu Hospital. It then connects to just after Shimalabandu along Kakamega Webuye Road and finally to Ingotse where it borders Navakholo constituency.
2. Hon. Tindi Mwale – Butere
Like Bishop Khamala, Tindi Mwale is one of the several elected MPs in Kakamega County 2022 who’ve won a second term. Hon. Mwale is the brother to Julius Mwale – the director of the upcoming Mwale Medical City in Butere.
The Butere MP worked as an aeronautical engineer previously before venturing into active politics. His constituency is home to Butere Girls High School, Kakamega County’s only national girl school. It’s also home to the county’s first Governor, FCPA Wycliffe Oparanya.
Generally, Butere Constituency starts at Bukura where it borders Khwisero and Lurambi Constituences and Siaya County to the south.
3. Hon. Aseka Miradi – Khwisero
Khwisero granted its MP a second term as well based on his track record. No doubt to his name “Miradi”! The MP is also passionate about school developments with building of highrise classrooms. This is a breakaway fro the usual lined classrooms that take up alot of land.
Geographically, Khwisero also starts at the Bukura junction bordering Lurambi and Butere and shares up Musoli market with Ikolomani Constituency.
4. Hon. Bernard Shinali – Ikolomani
Fourth is Bernard Shinali who also gets another term to represent Ikolomani as one of the elected MPs in Kakamega County 2022 for a five year period.
It’s notable that Ikolomani starts at around Mukumu Hospital all the way to River Yala on one side of the Kakamega Kisumu Road. Then takes up the gold mines and connects to around Musoli market. A key school in the constituency is Musingu High School.
5. Hon. Peter Salasya (PK) – Mumias East
Of all the MPs starting their terms in the county, he single handedly represents sheer hardwork and self belief. Hon. PK Salasya beat alot of competition to get the mandat to represent Mumias East residents for atleast 5 years.
He’s synonymous with pushing for the revival of Mumias Sugar Company, a company at the heart of the constituency’s economic survival. The constituency starts at Ekero Junction all the way to Makunga along Mumias Kakamega Road. It also connects from Isongo to around Indangalasia where it borders Butere.
6. Hon. Naica – Mumias West
Naica is serving another term representing Mumias West Constituency that connects from Ekero Junction, River Nzoia all the way to Musanda where it borders Siaya County.
7. Hon. Peter Nabulindo – Matungu
Coming in previously to complete the late MP’s term in 2020, Nabulindo has won a five year termas Matungu MP.
Matungu borders Busia county to the south, Mumias West along R. Nzoia as well Mumias East. Something else to note is that the current governor, Fernandes Barasa lives here.
8. Emmanuel Wangwe – Navakholo
Honourable Wangwe is another county MP given the nod to serve Navakholo constituency. This former National Assembly Chief Whip has won a third uninterrupted term.
Basically, Navakholo starts at Isongo area then stretches to around Makunga then borders Bungoma County to the north. A key landmark is the popular Nambacha Market.
9. Hon. Malulu Injendi – Malava
Malulu Injendi is another elected MP joining the 13th Parliament to represent the populous Malava Constituency. The constituency is undoubtedly the most populous and has two recognized subscounties. It’s also home to West Kenya Sugar Company and Butali Sugar.
10. Hon. Nabii Nabwera – Lugari
Lugari Constituency is found to the north of Kakamega County and is now represented by a newly elected MP. It’s predominantly cosmopolitan and is home to the deputy governor H.E Ayub Savula.
11. Hon. Fred Ikana – Shinyalu
From the land of Isukuti and bullfighting is Hon. Hon Ikana who’s coming as first time MP representing Shinyalu Constituency. The constituency is home to the Kakamega Forest and the Kakamega Airstrip as well.
12. Hon. Innocent Mugabe – Likuyani
Finally on our listing is Hon. Innocent Mugabe. Coming in to represent the furthest constituency in the county, the newly elected MP brings in a wealth of experience from the private sector and will be keen to see how he fairs in the next five years.
