1. Mount Elgon National Park
Sitting on the border of Uganda and Kenya, Mount Elgon is the second tallest mountain in Kenya towering over 4,300M above the sea.
The mountain’s cool heights offer respite from the hot plains below, with the higher altitudes providing a refuge for flora and fauna. The National Park is home to over 300 species of birds, including the endangered Lammergeyer. Small antelopes, forest monkeys, elephants and buffalos also live on the mountainside.
Key places to try here are the Wagagai Peak being the highest point and the Sipi Falls.
2. Kitum Caves
Still within this awesome national park is another hidden treasure: the Kitum Caves. Kitum Cave is located in Mount Elgon National Park, Kenya. It is one of the five named “elephant caves” of Mount Elgon where animals, including elephants, “mine” the rock for its sodium-rich salts.
3. Buteyo Miti Park
You must be asking if you have to get out of town for that experience you long for! No you don’t. There’s one of the best places to visit just within Bungoma town. It’s Buteyo Miti Park.
The park offers you an opportunity to see some incredible wild animals like the lion, crocodiles as well as various species of monkeys. The beautiful nature trails are also a must for those long walks you crave with your loved ones.
4. Nabuyole Falls
You know what they say about beautiful things? I bet they are shared. And so does Nabuyole Falls found in Webuye. Check out this wonder on the border of Bungoma and Kakamega Counties.
5. Saiwa Swamp National Park
