Kakamega SME Expo to highlight Western Kenya opportunities

Set to be Western Kenya’s biggest tradeshow, Kakamega SME Expo 2023 will be held on October 27th and 28th 2023 in Kakamega bringing together over 100 exhibiting companies drawn from across the country. The expo is expected to attract over 3000 attendees mainly from the Western Kenya and the Lake Region Economic Bloc counties for two days of networking, creating business linkages, partnerships as well as exploring the various products and services on offer.

The event is themed “Unlocking SME Growth” basing the policy engagements and stakeholders discussions around how to make the regional SME sector more interlinked through Partnerships and creating a conducive environment for the businesses to access affordable and reasonable financing for growth. On this front, the organizers of the event have made it a priority to have wide ranging discussions with as many financial institutions such as banks, saccos, microfinance institutions, Fintech companies among others to participate and share their various capital facilities available for businesses to take advantage of.

Target sectors

On matters SME partnerships, Kakamega SME Expo is targeting atleast 5 companies per the major economic sectors such as transport & logistics, real estate, construction, agribusiness, education, branding & printing, fashion & beauty, tourism & hospitality, healthcare, retail, information technology, FMCG among others. So far, the expo is exploring strategic partnerships with notable organizations such as the renowned Lake Victoria Tourism Association (LVTA), Skyward Express Limited, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, The County Government of Kakamega among others to ensure maximum value for both participating sponsors, exhibitors and attendees alike.

Furthermore, Kakamega SME Expo is keen on nurturing the next crop of companies through our mentorship programs that will be held on the runup to the expo. This will be an opportunity for the youths running startups, small businesses and student entrepreneurs to meet, interact and network with the established brands and the business leaders behind these successful companies. Such an initiative will go a long way in guiding the future business leaders in the right direction and offer the much needed motivation to them.

Kakamega SME Expo Plenary sessions

Policy engagements and stakeholders discussions will also be a great highlight. The side plenary sessions will involve stakeholders drawn from the major sectors of the economy. The attendees will also get to learn more about our Sponsors’ products offering on matters agribusiness promotion, SME support, Access to capital, investment opportunities among others. The discussions will also provide an excellent platform to learn more on government initiatives for SMEs.
